Purchasing a home has multiple advantages including tax benefits, privacy and the fact that a home typically increases in value. So before you hit those open houses and trade your monthly rent for a mortgage, be sure you have a solid understanding of what it actually costs to own a home.
1. Down payment, mortgage, insurance and taxes
